Decking

Decking

Decks that stay flat — because the frame underneath is built like a floor.

Overview

Decking Done Properly

A deck is a structure. The boards are the last two percent of the job; everything that determines whether it stays flat and dry is in the subframe, the footings and the ventilation gap underneath.

We use concrete footings, treated or steel subframes at correct joist spacing, and keep airflow under the deck so it doesn't cup, rot or twist.

Decking — Common Questions

Timber or composite?+

Composite costs more upfront and never needs oiling. Timber is cheaper and looks warmer but wants re-oiling every year or two. Both last well if the frame is right.

Do I need a permit for a deck?+

Low decks generally don't, but height above ground, proximity to boundaries and overlooking rules can trigger approval. We'll flag it at the site visit.
